Um I know I've posted this before, but I'm asking again nonetheless. The number of cases of SARS in Singapore is still on the rise, and there've been 2 deaths this week, one of whom was a pastor, the other being the father of one of the initial cases. They were really young, 39 and 50 years old only. Please do keep those in the hardest hit areas in your prayers. Thank you!

Marie - Many of us are aware of SARS in Canada as Toronto has for the first time since the polio outbreak of the 1950's issued quarentine for tens of thousands of it's citizen.

I recall as a child in 1952 our home as many others were given " Notice " to be placed on our front door for a period of time until the Authorities deemed the downtown core safe.

My concern and prayers go to all the Chinese/Canadian community and those who travel at this time to the orient. Terrible situation indeed.

It is true, Jean W, that malaria is a great killer and disabler. However, the death rate is not nearly as bad as you stated.

Here is the first paragraph from what appears to be a dependable page entitled Statistics on Malaria:

"Malaria is one of the planet's deadliest diseases and one of the leading causes of sickness and death in the developing world. According to the World Health Organization there are 300 to 500 million clinical cases of malaria each year, resulting in 1.5 to 2.7 million deaths."
