One of the many fascinating phenomena found in the Colorado Plateau are these round concretions of hematite (iron) around a sandstone core. THe Hopi believe these are used by ancient ghosts (moqui means "dearly departed ones").

Fascinating shot. Great detail back to front. I appreciate your use of the lines and cracks in the stone to lead us from the "marbles" in the foreground through the rest of the frame. I also really enjoy how the scene is limited to three colors. I would also like to see more of your work here.
