Your thoughts on a U.S.A MV Agusta rally?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I'm thinking more a loud, but the idea of a national get-together popped in my head again.

I was thinking if we could probably coordinate this with Cagiva USA and some dealer to make it MV Agusta's version of Ducati Rev's America.

Some activities that I though would be interesting would be:

1) Renting Laguna Seca for a day for track sessions. (I wonder how much it is to reserve a track for a day)

2) Group rides through Monterey area.

3) Tech sessions (suspension, engine stuff, etc.)

4) A showing of MV Agusta's F4 Mille.

5) Casoli Moto USA and Ferraci displays with aftermarket parts ready to buy.

6) Open invitation to Dwight Mitchell, Giacomo Agostini (unlikely), MV Agusta official in Italy (unlikely), and Motorcyclist, Sport Rider, and Cycleworld journalists. Yeah, I guess we could ask those other non-F4 MV Agusta owners (the ones with the old bikes) to join us. ;)

In terms of location, I was thinking of Laguna Seca because of the track, weather, and good roads. Unfortunately, it's really far for most of us....especially considering there probably aren't too many CA riders. But then again, any place will be too far for those on the other side of the county. And, wheat field in Kansas doesn't sound to appealing either. :)

The thought of a transport system then popped into my head. Maybe we could work a discount with a trucking company or rent a van with trailers. Or maybe one person on the east coast might have access to a monster RV that could hold 5 or 6 MV?

The other place was Las Vegas. For some reason lots of gathering/conventions happen here. But I don't think their too many good places to ride in Vegas....but it's a possibility.

In terms of timing, if Cagiva wants to introduces or display the Mille, I think they'd call the shots in terms of date. It would probably mean they'd also take a portion of the track rental, event set up, and event promotions. Hey, they have more experience at this than I would. :)

However, I was thinking a three day weekend would be the best time. Actually, I think a three day weekend is required!!! Preferably, at a time when 1/2 the nation isn't snowed in or the other half is baking in 100+ temperatures. I was thinking of February to June and September to November. Personally, I think Memorial Day would be good because it's not a family type holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas and it's during a time of year that's favorable for most, if not all, of the country. WSB in July would be convenient but we probably would have a hard time reserving the track.

Like I said, I'm pretty much thinking a loud and sharing thoughts here. I wonder if making this suggestion to Cagiva is worth a shot. It would make good publicity for when the F4 Mille comes around and let the motorcycling community know that MV is back in production again.

Any sugguestions?

I'm for it! I should be in posession of my new MV by that time too. I also know somebody who is in the vehicle transport business, with a 45 foot enclosed trailer, designed for vehicle transportation. He transports exotic cars, mostly. It could fit maybe a dozen bikes at a time. Fully enclosed from the elements. I think a rally like this could be very good for MV and the bike owners. If it caught on, it would make for a great time for fun, swap-meet, cafe' racing, and real racing. I love the idea.

Thanks Tom. I'll send a e-mail to Cagiva USA to see if they'd be interested in a MV rally. Having the F4 Mille there would be the icing on the cake. I'll keep every posted.

I'm pretty sure there will be a good showing of "Sennas" and /or MV owners this year @ Laguna WSB. I'm all for us as a group to show up in FORCE!!!

Great idea. I'm in, just tell me where. Laguna Seca is going to be a strong showing of the MV marque. Some more Senna's were sold after July last year and should be spotted. It all sounds good.

How about Barber or VIR for the people on the right coast?
