Need help with file sharing programs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

I wanted to get a file sharing program so i could find Ranma 1/2 episodes. I first tried Kazaa, but that sucks. I dont have any files to share, so I cant use DC, and I dont know how to use Bit torrent. I'm kind of new to the windows system, so could anyone recommend a file sharing program? Or, as an alternative, does anyone have Ranma 1/2 episodes?

Dont use p2p, programs for downloading anime, they are slow and its almost impossibel to get all eps, try using IRC.

I recommend Bittorent. Try http://anime-galaxy.kicks- ass.net/index.php for the 2nd OVA of Ranma.

It's Bittorrent. I mnow that you said that you did't know how to use Bittorrent, but its actually very simple to use. Download the Bittorent client at http://bitconjurer.org/BitTorrent/download.html .Then, after installing it click on files with the .torrent extension (many torrents from new fansubs are available at http://animesuki.com or http://anime.mircx.com) to download it. A new window should pop up asking you wher you would like to save it . Save the torrent to a location and it'll connect to others to download the files. Usualy Bittorrent downloads at very fast rates. The first rule of Bittorent though is to leave the download window up for a bit so others can download from you. I hope that this helped^^.

Well, iMesh is a good progrem, though it might give the user a herd time occationally...^^; Here it is: www.imesh.com If you are interested, I have Ranma 1/2 episodes!: Season 1, episodes 01-04 subbed, & season 2, episodes 01-18 dubbed to english!! I'll be glad to email them/some of them to you, but you'll have to send me an email first, 'cause they're all on a CD, & not on my computer anymore...^^; Good luck anyways!! ^^*

I appreaciate you willing to share those episodes with me, but i have already seen episodes 1-16 in the first season. I got them off a website that was on this board. Thanks, but no thanks.

Kazaa is key, ive gotten all my eps off there, first season of ranma, second, third, fourth...fifth is actually impossible to find. and season 6 is really hard. and i havent tried to look for seven yet. season 6 is easy to find if you dont mind it being dubbed...i do however...mind. ive tried IRC that thing is a pile of shit, i never get anything off there, i sit on it over night and im still queued in the morning, and when people do send things, they just time out and i never get it all. so IRC can burn in the firey depths of hell. *hugs her kazaa*

Kazaa is good for the first 3.5 seasons, which is to say, the ones with subtitles. The ones after that tend to be of wildly varying quality, being one or more of the following:

-Dubbed (2 different voices for Ranma, neither of them a particularly good actor) -RealMedia codec (coded at a very low bitrate, giving files about 35 megs in size, and horrible quality) -Good codec, but coded at a low quality (sometimes subtitles are barely readable, some are obviously ripped from a TV broadcast using low-quality hardware, etc.)

About 2/3 of season 5, almost all of 6 and the first half of 7 are on kazaa if you're persistent, as well as all of seasons 1-3 and season 4 except episodes 23 and 24 for some reason. I have found a single very slow source for 4x24, but it's going to end up taking about 2 weeks to pull it down it looks like. All in all, Kazaa is probably the fastest way to get the first 4 seasons. After that it looks like IRC might be your best bet :P

I got a few hundred gig of share so i got most of my ranma from Direct Connect (DC, get it at www.neo-modus.com) and irc (get the client at www.mirc.com). I got hold of season 1-4 subbed (horray, i hate dubs) and with good quality to. Though after season 4 its just damn hard/impossible to find all episodes of seasong 5-7 subbed, and decent quality.

Anyway if you dont got the GB on you're HD to share for direct connect if would recommend getting irc and start downloading anime from different fansub channels (channels filled with dedicated fans who sub anime which have not been licensed). So when you got irc and have figured out how to get it to work (please read help files and take some time) i would (yet again) recommend you entering the server irc.aniverse.com (most of the fansub groups is on that server) and join one of their anime channels. (Check out www.baka-updates.com to se what groups have fansubbed what anime:P)

Hope this is of some use to you ppl who read it. I myself was never clever enough to search the web when i didn't know much about how to get anime from ex. irc or direct connect.

Cheers my anime luving buddies.

(So far I have not found any site where you can get Ranma ½ tv seasons with bit torrent ;_; Only the movies..)
