Hey man, Whats up? I'm a student too and I have an answer for you. His military career did affect his writing. He went to West Point. The piece of literature that his experience affected was the cask of Armontiago (I think thats how you spell it) Anyway, you should read that, its a short story. The main character, a psycho, builds a wall w/ his enemy inside of it. THere was a rumor at West Point that a teacher did that to one of his students. Make the connection. Well thats it so email me back to tell me how you did. Cya
