Pedals- Tech Question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Mountain Bike Hash Forum : One Thread

Hello, this question unfortunately is not a joke. I just bought a pair of clip in pedals. How do I go about releasing the pedal from the shoe now that it's clipped in. Thanks for reading.

Kevin,

With most, if not all, clipless pedal systems, twisting your foot (heel outwards) will disengage the pedal binding mechanism.

It also depends on what pedals you are using....if they are SPD's, they maybe their tension is too high....making it harder to unclip but easier to clip in i think! :)

You can try to loosen the tension using a standard allen key...but do this only if you know what you are doing....dont loosen it until it becomes too loose so much so when you stand up to cyle you might just accidentally unclip!

If they aint SPD's, then the easiest way to explain this is to BEND yr leg outward and it will unclip!

terjin , why isit harder to unclip using spd's?

Jeff, as my reply says it all....read the first sentence properly!!! I am not saying that SPD's are hard to clip out of, but when you buy an new SPD's the factory setting for the tensioners would be too high for a newbie to clip out of, so they may need to have their tensioners loosened!

SPD's are kewl but i prefer eggbeaters coz they are easier to clip in and out off, also they have 4 entry points unlike SPD's which have 2 sides only....up or down
