ACL pocket watch display/holder

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I am a fairly new pocket watch collector and have purchased a wooden display/ holder for a pocket watch. It is marked Atlantic Coast Line on the back, someone's initials on the front (VDR) along with some floral carvings. On the bottom, is craved "M.M. Prince, OPHSHL,5/11/44"

I was wondering if anyone here could shed any light on how common these were, and decipher the markings.

I have some pics hosted at auctionwatch.com and I will try to provide a link to them below.

Thanks, Charlie Sides
