Is there a difference between an OVA and a movie?

Alright, is there a difference between an OVA and a movie? While looking through anime sites, I've come across these two terms quite often, and I'm starting to get confused on whether or not they're the same thing, or if they're different somehow. Is an OVA simply another name for a movie...or not? I know it's actually an insignificant and stupid question to ask, but it's really starting to irritate me. LOL So, I'd be very thankful if someone could fill me in. Thanx bunches. ~Me~

Anime is generally released as a TV series in Japan. OVA's are anime's that are released straight to video. That's all.. or at least I think it is!

What I really want to know is what the difference is between OAV's and OVA's.

It's the same thing [(O)riginal (V)ideo (A)nimation or (O)riginal (A) nimation (V)ideo]. Though, I personally think that it should be OVA ^_^;;.

OAV's are episodes or specials 1 to 13 episodes each Like FLCL(6eps) or Dragon half(2eps)
