Instrument lights flash during washing?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MV Agusta F4 : One Thread

I took delivery of my 02 F4S ev 02 on Friday. After a 225 mile ride today I decided to wash my bike. While washing I heard a faint noise like wires shorting, as I investigate I find my several of my dash indicators randomly going on and off, the key was not even in the bike!!! Has anybody else had this problem? Thanks for your help,Curt

someone else had a similar posting on the forum...search for it and I think he had a cure to this.

After riding a few hundred miles my 02 MV started doing something similar. After checking the battery cables, I noticed that they were not tightened down completely. It may not solve the problem but it's a place to start. Good luck in solving the problem.

Do NOT spray your entire bike with water unless its ON FIRE!!!! Especially the instrument panel and fuseblock areas near and behind the left fairings. Whenever I feel my MV needs a bath, I wash (spray it) with meguires detail spray after removing any dust with a dusting mitt. The spray breaks down bug guts and heavier dirt while encapsulating it within the liquid, then you can simply wipe it down with a SOFT tshirt or diaper rag! Water(directly sprayed) is VERY VERY bad for any bike, especially these handmade italians.....
