Abandoned Baby Goat

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Dairygoats : One Thread

I came across an abondoned baby goat and know very little about it. Shes still has her umbilical cord and I've had her for a week and three days so shes still young. When me and my friend first got her she didnt know how to drink and we force fed her until she learned to drink from a bottle and now shes gone from 3 1/2 lbs to 8 lbs and shes much more active. I was just wondering what type of goat she is and if theres anything we need for her. Shes got really big long ears and we know shes not a pygmy goat because she has long lanky legs. Shes all white and she has waddle things hanging from her neck. If anyone has any information please contact me! Thanks

Do the ears hang down? Nubian. Do they stick out like big airplane wings? Nubian Saanen cross. Are they pert and alert? Saanen. 3 1/2 pounds is pretty small though. Perhaps she was a triplet or born to a small yearling doe.

Her ears do hang down and actually shes gained a lot of weight, although she is some where around a month old now. She is starting to get a belly now although she is still very thin and shes finally on solid food (she still takes her bottle). Is flaking of foot normal?? Her hooves are all flakey and they tend to peel off, is that normal or is something wrong with them???
