no, the pope does not have money, his needs are taken care of by the vatican. if he wishes to purchase something, it is bought by the church and remains in the vatican after his death.

Nope, he does not get paid, he took a vow of poverty before becoming a Priest

Members of religious orders take a vow of poverty. Diocesan priests do not. Diocesan priests typically receive a small salary, which might well place them below the poverty level by IRS standards, but which is not the result of any vow. They also typically own a car, which in many cases was given to them either by the parish or by their own family.

Does Jesus drive a car? and if so.. what make.., also.. if the pope could drive.. would he be required to drive the same type of car that jesus drove?

-- Patrick Kirsch (kirscp@yahoo.com), May 06, 2003.

Jesus was a big chevy guy.. thus he owned many of them.. and he would take the apostles to the mall whenever they needed a ride.. and yes.. you are correct in that the pope would be required to drive a Chevy such as Jesus did..

Actually the Apostles had their own car. A Honda. Scripture records a couple of instances where they were all in one Accord.

Dear Paul,

Oh, that was bad!

How did they get twelve guys in that one car? And, because he was the money man, I bet it was Judas who chose the Accord!

Very good, Paul! (Accord)

And I heard that Our Blessed Mother, Mary, used to drive too, until she gave the angel Gabriel her Fiat.

"The Pope took a vow of poverty before becoming a Priest"

I love the Pope, but living in the Vatican doesn't appear to me as living a life of poverty, now does it?

-- MaryLu (mlc327@juno.com), April 26, 2004.

MaryLu,

The pope doesnt own anything in the vatican. Also, his chambers are very sparce compared to a middle classed american, much less compared to the rest of the vatican.

also, the pope doesnt own much of anything. from the garments he wears, the building he lives in, the car he rides in, these things do not belong to him. when he dies, it will be as a man who owns next to nothing, and the church will pay to bury him. As compared to other world leaders, the pope is one of the most powerful, and yet still lives a life of humility by comparison to even our president, who will earn .5 million dollars per year until the day he dies (unless the figure has changed since the last time i looked it up).

Dang you paul, you beat me to the punch. The Pope's private chamber is very sparse as a constant reminder that he is the "servant of the servants."

Also, not that I can top the "Accord," but us country folk always figured Jesus drove an SUV so that all of the apostles could fit. Also it had 4 wheel drive for all of the rough roads around Jerusalem and Judea, and so they could tow Peter's boat when needed. :)
