Hi All, Since several folks had asked about things at the museum... A&WP290 has it's cab off for so folks can access firebox/boiler etc for cleaning & inspection. Hope to have it on display for Railfair the last weekend in Sept. Ga Power 97 is steam power this year and runs the 3rd Saturday only. There's a good chance it's going to be out of service for boiler work in 2004 so you may want to see it this year if you like steam. Speaking of steam... you never know which whistle 97's going to carry each month. For April it was former Ga Road #2's whistle. For May (this Saturday, 5/17) it's a long-bell 3-chime off of Southern Railway 1472 from Bill Purdie's Collection. SR1472 was a 4-8-2 class Ts Mountain type built in 1917 and one of Bill's favorite engines. The museum just completed a $650,000 expansion project and there are new exhibits, better walkways, larger gift shop and lots to see.

The museum is located in Duluth Ga., about 30 minutes north of Atlanta by way of I-85. Website is www.srmduluth.org
