Converting avi files to rm on a PC or Mac OS X

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Well, the subject pretty much says it all. Basically I have a CD burner on my Mac OS X and also on my PC, and I'm trying to find a FREE program somewhere with which I can convert my huge avi files into teensy-weensy rm files. I know the quality goes down somewhat, but the rm's I've watched have been decent and it'd be nice to be able to condense at least some of my anime. Does anyone know a program I can download online that's capable of doing this? I guess I'm willing to pay for it, but not much--no more than twenty bucks.

What're my options? Is there any other way to condense anime files? I'd be really grateful if someone would give me a hand here.

Well, the only software I know of (and I don't know many) is used for digitizing VHS. However, there is a save setting that is "Save for Web" that gives you the option of realtime or quicktime.

It's called Adobe Premier... however, i do not know if it is for WIN only, or MAC compatable. search Google for more details, and I'm sure you can DL it on Kazaaaaaaa.

Goto EO-video.com (i think that's it, if not Google it) They have a program that can convert almost any video type. Now your file sizes are likelly to be doubled or tripled after the convert, So that's not the best program to make VCDs with.

Yes, it is possible and I have encoded such episodes on my site (animelast.cjb.net). Try to use Vdub to format the episode, then Real Producer to convert them into small .rm files.
