Drpping Frames.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Editing DV Films : One Thread

I'm trying (with very little luck) to transfere my home movies from my DV camcorder (Panasonic NV EX3) to my PC. I'm using a Fire wire connection and I have over 512mb of RAM in my PC at leat 10Gb of HDD space and my processor is an Athlon 1.2Ghz. I understan that the latest machines are far faster, but I keep having the same problem with all the Capturing Software I try. They keep "Dropping Frames"

Any ideas as to how to obtain some smooth video footage????

Sounds like you need to defrag or change your video compressor if you are using one.

Microsoft DV works ok and is free.
