What is the major difference between Erickson's social theory and Piaget's cognitive theory?

They're about different things, as your question makes clear -- Piaget was interested in cognitive development, Erikson in social development. Also, Erikson covered the whole lifespan whereas Piaget (thinking that there is no significant cognitive development after the teen years) covered only childhood.
