AHHH, Father's Day!

AHHH, Father’s Day! “Chef Dan”, my youngest, is fixing a special dinner - pasta puntenesca. I’m not sure of the exact translation, but he says it has it’s origin with Italian prostitutes who had to make do with whatever was left over in the cafes. His sauce has absolutely everything in it, calamata olives, capers, sweet red peppers!

Kit went shopping with mom yesterday, and this morning gave me a basket filled with my favorite gummy candies. Actually, he gave me a little lopsided smile (you should have seen it!!) and a kiss, which I repaid a couple of times. I’m still surprised that my present wasn’t another HULK t-shirt, in HIS size, of course. :-)

All three of my sons live here in the little neighborhood on the bayou, so we’ll all have dinner together, then it’s down to the dock (if the rain stops). That will be the most precious present of all.

What are you doing today? Call your dad, if you can, hug his neck if he’s close, and tell him he’s a good man. Or spend a moment, like I will, telling your kids about him, and what he meant to you.

Sounds like you had a very special day Lon! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I do know what you mean about throwing your arms around your Daddy's neck, especially on Father's Day! It brought back some very wonderful memories of my beloved father, who has been gone 11 years now. I can honestly say he was the gentlest soul I ever knew. I still carry him in my heart.

I do hope Rob and Robert Cook had as wonderful a day as you did!

It was a very special day for me. They took me out for a great dinner at this really fancy place - you know, the kind of place where you sit down and eat with silverware and all - and Dear Mrs. Michaels paid the bill ;-) The whole family was together, and later I talked with a relative who lives far away that I only talk with maybe once a year or so.

Father's day is one of those bitter-sweet days for me, too, AB; it's great to celebrate my husband and his father, and it's hard to be reminded of how big a hole there still is from my own father's death in 1991. Rob, it sounds like you've got some mixed feelings too - I hope you can maintain better ties with your kids! Lon, how kind of you to share some of the good times in your life with us right now - I hope that on father's day, you were able to make it down to the dock for that special family time!

We went to visit my in-laws last Sunday. My father-in-law has restored a 1943 Fargo truck and he had it at the Reynolds-Alberta Museum for a special "History of the Road" show. They were supposed to have vehicles from every year since 1901, but there were a few missing when we got there. Then we took my in-laws out for supper at a Chinese food buffet (their choice). I'm not sure that they felt it was all that good a choice when we got the fortune cookies - mine said I was going to soon come into a big inheritance, and since my mom is not even close to wealthy.... :-D

My in-laws live about 90 miles away - through some of the most beautiful land on earth. Rolling green hills, big bright blue sky, and lovely tracts of trees. Coming home Sunday evening, we enjoyed the sunset for about an hour... living this far north, it takes the sun a long time to set. It starts going down at about 9 pm, and it isn't full dark until about 11 pm. So for at least an hour, the sky puts on a light show. Some good music on the radio or CD, and it's your own favorite show ever! But don't take my word for it, come see for yourselves ;-)

Twilight lingering

Turquoise, blue, coral and gold

The sky bids goodnight.

Sweet Princess; On the Alt FRL site, I asked about decloaking and here is the Keeper of the Mule's response: "Yah, we should decloak. You'll have to get our Lady Canuck to do it for you. I'm still in time-out." So hows 'bout it? (whenever you get the chance ;-)

Thanks! It's usually quiet around here, but lately it's been *really* quiet. Maybe some folks'll stop by that couldn't before.

T'was a nice father's day ....

Lunch (on Miss Veronica's checkbook!) spent with the kids, then later had supper with the granded kids.

Tom over near Rob's place - in the USAF school down at Dover.

Carla says, "Wow, she really is close to me in age, isn't she? Just a month and a day older!"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEAN!!!!!!!!

Congrats Robert, and we all know, she will always be "your little girl"! As does she! No matter how old she is! Lucky lady, and proud dad!
