greenspun.com : LUSENET : History & Theory of Psychology : One Thread

There ia a picture always seen in movies. Psycotherapists will ask clients to tell what they see in this picture. This is a picture mostly black & white and the pattern in it look like a bat. Would anyone tell mw what is the name of this picture/test? Where can I find more information about it?

The Rorschach Ink Blot test. There is a favorable descriptions of it at http://www.rorschach.org/ and http://www.phil.gu.se/fu/ro.html. You will find a more critical review at http://skepdic.com/inkblot.html.

There are also Holzman ink blots. The one you see in the movies will not be an actual selection from the test, which is protected by copyright law and professional use restrictions.
