If you could bring back one TV show

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Beyond the Sidewalks : One Thread

j.r. started this question over at Homesteading Today and there were a lot of good answers. The interesting thing is that there was one particular TV show that almost everyone wanted to bring back. I wonder if we'll see the same trend here? I'm not going to say what it is because I don't want to skew the results, I'll just say that I want to bring it back too. :)

The other TV show that I would bring back is "Firefly". It was on Fox this past fall and got cancelled after only 6 or 7 episodes. It was written by Joss Whedon, the same guy who did "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". The premise of the show was that it was an outer space western. IMO it was one of those rare shows where you cared about each character. The teenage girl named River broke my heart at least every other episode. Rumor has it that Joss is working to bring the show back, possibly in syndication or on the SciFi channel.

MASH, I reckon. Pop served in MASH units in the Phillipines in WWII; he always said "Yup, that's pretty much how it was."

Definitely "Northern Exposure." In fact, I wanted to live there, except for the fact that Cicely was in Alaska.

(I liked the waltons too, sandy)

Yup, I liked the Waltons too but I remember a show that lasted one or two episodes that had some promise that I wish they woulda kept on longer. I think it was named "Salvage" with Andy Griffith. Being a fan of junking it was right up my alley. He'd buy government surplus and would sell the stuff to various outfits, foreign governments, with some interesting plot twists.

I loved Balleykissangel on PBS

There was a show on I believe, CBS about 10 - 15 years ago that only ran about five or six shows before it was canceled. It was about a city family who decided to leave the rat race and live on a ranch in the west. Can't for the life of me remember the name though . . . this will bother me the rest of the day.

There was another show (also canceled quickly) about a family which somehow was taken into another dimension, and were pursued by the leaders of that world. They were constantly on the run and living under an assumed identity - the people of that dimension looked and talked the same language as us, so assimulating was pretty easy.

Northern Exposure . . . yeah, doggone Joel left the show and really spoiled things. The characters are so memorable - I want that show back too Earthmama.

Kung Fu (with David Carradine), hands down, no holds barred. Bet it didn't show up on the other list, though!

The Munsters, of course! Okay, I'm joking! Sheesh!

None that I can think of right now . . . unless you mean that the new episodes would be as good as the best of the original show. Most shows just run out of stuff to write about! In that case, China Beach.

Another show I enjoyed, but didn't last long, was Byrds of Hawaii. Well, half the reason I liked the show was for it's locale. It was supposed to be on the Big Island (also Hawaii), my favorite island. I think they filmed on Oahu though. :-(

JR, I think I remember the show you mean. Did it star Beau Bridges? And his dad, Lloyd Bridges, was in it too? I thought it was fairly good, but zap! cancelled. >:-(

So, now my curiosity is up over which show appealed to the other board . . .

The show on the other board was "Northern Exposure".

I like the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie too. And just the other day I amazed one of my co-workers by singing the complete "Green Acres" theme song. :)

Another show I really liked was "Quincy". He inspired me to follow a career in the medical field. Now I get my forensics fix by watching "CSI".
