I'm getting a lot of dns errors when trying to trace the site, and the ip number for the forums returns a apache web-site in setup fase page. It looks like either another move or someone's switched from DDoS attacks to dns poisoning :(

I can't get there either. Every time I try to go my computer goes to some Alimighty Search site. I can't figure out why? Does any one else have a clue to as for why? Today is June 30, 2003. Any help would be usefull. Thanx.

i feel you guys (and girls maybe?). it's currently June 30, 10:24 Pacific, and i can't reach the site, rather it goes to the Almighty Search site. My guess is that the site is down, but that's my answer for everything. it might be back by tomorrow, hopefully.

This is the answer from http://www.otakuav.com/news/article94.html:

AnimeSuki shut-down by DOSA Posted by OtakuPC Staff onSunday, May 25, 2003 - 08:00 PM GMT

AnimeSuki, one of the larger digital fansub sites, has been shut-down due to repeated Denial Of Service Attacks. While they were able to survive the attacks, their domain host pulled their website due to the continual attacks.

No-one has claimed responsablity for the attacks, and AnimeSuki is looking for a new domain to host their site on.

That article is from May 25, 2003. It's July. That article is from when they had to shut the site down. It's been up most of June. I think there server is just down. That article is rather old.

It happened again!

At the present moment the server is again offline because my current server provider apparently also got fed up with the DoS attacks on AnimeSuki which affected their network.

I'm not exactly sure what will happen now, it doesn't necessarily mean I'll lose my server again (but it very well could!), although it's extremely likely they will not allow me to host AnimeSuki on the server again (if they put it back online).

Update July 1, 2003 It might be possible for me to get the latest backups for the site and forum (not that the backups I have are very old however), but the site will have to move again. I'm currently working on making it possible for AnimeSuki to be mirrored. That requires a rewrite of quite a few scripts, so it'll take a day or two at least.

If you are willing to run a mirror of AnimeSuki.com (once the scripts are completed), contact me at gerard@prutser.com. Basic requirements are quite low: about 20 Mb of space (files + database), PHP 4.10 or newer, 1 MySQL database and FTP access. Depending on how many mirrors there will be traffic usage could be high however, probably between 10-30 Gb per month. In return you could host a banner for your own site or service on your mirror (preferbly no popups though).

found at the animesuki site that should explain it all
