Patron Saints

How does one become a patron saint? How can we bring about more parton saints? I would like to see a parton saint of angry people, historians, and patience. But how can this be done? Does anyone have any suggestions on who would make good patron saints for these things? God Bless.

Hello, Scott.
There exists an Internet site that tells about more than 4,500 saints, many of whom fall under one or more of 1,600 topics as patron saints.
To see the topics (and then find out which saints are linked with the topic), click here and then lick on "list by topics" in the upper right hand corner.
You are always free to write to your bishop, to the papal nuncio, or directly to the Vatican to propose the names of saints or blesseds to be officially named as new patron saints.

Suggestions for your new topics:
Patron saint against anger: St. Jerome, who was known for his irascibility (which is probably why I was born on his feast day)
Patron saint of historians: St. Bede the Venerable, English monk and historian
Patron saint for patience: St. Monica, who prayed and waited for decades of the conversion of her husband and son

God bless you.
John
