Just curious as to what everyone is reading !!! I'm reading Witch in the Kitchen but I'm Almost finished and going to library on Monday so would like some ideas to some good books!! I just finished a book on Salem witches, it was very eye opening. Mike is taking me to Massachusettes in the fall and Salem is not far from Beverly where we are staying. He wants to take me on a tour of Salem so I'm reading alot about the city and it's trials.

Have a great weekend!! Sandy

Salem is fun, but kinda touristy. We went a couple of years ago.

I'm reading Gore Vidal's "Palimpsest", "Dragon Spirit, How To self market your dream"by the Republic of Tea guys, and Greg Palast's "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy."

Today, I picked up "Flight Lessons" by Patricia Gaffney at the grocery, so I started it when I crawled in bed this morning - think I may have gotten all the way to page 3 before I fell asleep!! Hubs is used to taking my glasses off and folding down the corner of the page of my books for me, when he finds me snoozing with one in my hand.

This last week, I re-read "Faking It" by Jennifer Cruise, "Standing In the Rainbow" by Fannie Flagg, "Full Tilt" by Janet Evanovich, and a couple of trash fiction ro-mance type novels. For the last month or so, I've also been working my way through a biography of Mark Twain; and rereading all of my Gene Logsdon books in order of publication. Someday, I'm going to write that man a letter and tell him how much his books have meant to me over the years!

Right now, I'm waiting for Janet Evanovich's new novel, "To the Nines" to come out - trash fiction at it's finest! I've been keeping my eyes peeled for new books by Tony Hillerman, Robert Crais, Michael McGarrity, Lee Child, John Sandford and Lawrence Block; but haven't seen any recently. Then again, I haven't had time to drop by Diana's recently to see what she has in, either.

I'm not a good one to ask for suggestions because I am so addicted to the written word that I'll read just about anything except pornography and historical romanace - and I'll admit to having read hysterical romance (and 7 year old Reader's Digest and Nat'l Geographics) when trapped with nothing else to read. Oh, I should admit that I won't read anything on a college literature course reading list; nor anything much on Oprah's book list - from past experience, I know that I will be bored to tears!

Man's Search for Freedom by Viktor frankl.......This is a must read!! The Dancing Wu Li Masters by Gary Zukav.....Okay this one is just to help get me to sleep!!! I don't have a clue! Ha! Ha! People keep telling me to read this thing but I guess I'm a little too stupid.

Polly is that the only thing men are good for is to remove those glasses and dropped books? Ha! Thats one of my jobs too. Oh yea that and wakeing Barb up when she has those bad dreams......kirk

Kirk I felt the same way about "Women Who Run With the Wolves" back when it was popular. I tried to read it but I just didn't get it. Now that I'm older and wiser (yeah, right!) maybe I'll give it another try.

I just finished Eliot Coleman's book on 4-season gardening. Now I'm reading a book by Rob Roy (the cordwood masonry homebuilding guy, not the Scottish fellow portrayed by the luscious Liam Neeson in the movie) about how to build your own stone circles. I'm also skimming "The Backyard Orchardist" and "The Backyard Berry Book" both by Stella Otto to figure out if there's things I need to do this fall or if I have to wait until spring.

I haven't read any fiction for a while, the last one was a Charles deLint novel who's name completely escapes me at the moment. (It was the one about the Greenman mask if anyone else is a fan.) I've been getting the itch to read some more fiction and all my books are packed so I may have to raid Keith's bookshelf and see what he has.

Hey Sandy, could you do me a really big favor when you go to Salem? If I sent you some money, would you please buy a refrigerator magnet for me? I collect refrigerator magnets with names of cities or states on them, the tackier the better! I even have one from the Newark Airport. :) I would love to have one from Salem! :)

'Fire on the Mountain' by Edward Abbey last week. 'The Dharma Bums' (one of my all time favorites) by Jack Kerouac - I make a habit of reading this book over and over again. The way the man describes his various hiking trips in California, the experiences in the desert and his mom's home in N. Carolina, and his stay as a forest lookout in Washington - I love it.

I'm always drawn to the outdoors theme, it seems.
