Let us pray for the family of Brother Arthur Brown...Connectional Lay President

greenspun.com : LUSENET : A.M.E. Today Discussion : One Thread

I was just informed that Brother Arthur Brown, the Connectional President of the Lay Organization, just passed. President Brown was a fine man, Christian and true leader within the church. He will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him. It is most unfortunate that his passing occured one week before the Connectional Lay Meeting in New Orleans. May God smile and comfort his family during their moment of loss. Rest on Brother Brown!

I was informed about the passing of Brother Arthur by our very own Sis. Barbara Robinson. Brother Brown and I shared the pulpit together when he spoke for our Lay Awareness Day last March 2003. It was because of Brother Brown that Bethel's Collegiate Choir will be on the Lay Biennial's program Tuesday night. He was deeply moved by the singing tenacity of our young adults and personally requested that they come to New Orleans and share their God-given talents with the Connectional Lay. I looked forward to meeting him again in New Orleans to share with him my proposed legislation for Gen Con 2004 but based on this unexpected news I can only now only "look to the hills from whence cometh my help, My Help commeth from the Lord". Peace and Strength to the bereaved Brown Family. QED

I heard about Brother Brown's passing at our Church School picnic yesterday, but was hesitant to post anything until I was personally able to confirm it.

It's my understanding that he recently had had a heart attack and was recovering at home.

No details for services have been announced (at least, not at my church), but condolences may be sent to his wife, Sis. Brown, 1425 Cottingham Ct. W., Columbus, OH 43209
