Err I think it's more or less left up to you... heh. There are things that hint to either of them being the one who she was running too yus...

I think maybe it could be both Kyoshiro and Kyo. Well its a bit confusing because the voice sounds like Kyo's but he has the same body as Kyoshiro. Remember last time when he fights Nobunaga they were in that Kyo/Kyoshiro state

fools, kyo and kyoshiro were once "ONE" and they were split somehow but at the end they were combined once again.

Ah! I question to ponder for the ages. Of course the "twist" of the anime was the hitchcock like ending. I admit it worked since in the beginning I was rooting for Kyoshiro, but surpisingly enough, after allowing Kyo like 10 times more airtime than his counter part, I developed a liking to the psych-er misguided Kyo. So I was on the fence about who I thought deserved to win the final battle. But I agree with the last guy. The large crash at the end was, in my humble opinion, that merging of the two. That's what Kyoshiro was waiting for all this time. I don't think he really "slept" through the entire show until the final few episodes. He was strong enough to defeat Nobanaga Oda in the forest, and seemed to come out only when Kyo either needed him, or when Kyo was ready for him. Like during the brief meeting with Kyoshiro when Kyo first called on Suzaku in the Mibu castle. Kyoshiro was simply bidding his time.... I think he was atoning for his past crimes and for giving Kyo only a thirst for violence. He understood Yuya would bring out compassion in him. Once that happened, Kyoshiro/Kyo had developed all of himself into a man of peace and tenderness, like Sakuya wanted. Therefore they could be joined to end up in a peaceful life, selling medicine to the world. In my humble opinion.

BTW, anyone else think it's really funny when a big climax somehow winds up atop Tokyo Towers. It must be a great injoke with the animators or something.
