Personally I go back and forth on this whole thing. I think that if Aeon Flux is being made into a live action movie it can only bring attention to the original series. Flux might be asked to run again. Why did MTV go ahead with this movie without the original team? It has a cult following years after it's run. The ones working on the movie prob didn't have a choice in the matter and I can't hold it against them. They are just artists doing their best, and are prob capable of good work. It's just that the original team was so fabulously quirky, unique and original. The ideas were completely fresh and their imput would be crucial. I'm sure MTV is missing the boat on that score. Take a look at their programming to confirm that suspicion. They think they're avant garde, in a few years most of what they do will be forgotten. Aeon Flux will not. For my part I would at the very least start the movie with some new Flux animation from Chung. Show the eye, the scorpion; the commitment of hers to freedom and lead into the movie with it.

Aeon Flux must rack up more obituaries than anyone in history.

I'm really blue about not seeing Aeon Flux airing the way it did back in '97 right now. I used to wait up till 3am to see that show, it was the greatest thing. I had a friend that found it as intriguing as I did, and I had a vague understanding we were not alone out there. Poirier's voice sounded intensely cool, and the relationship between Aeon and Trevor was downright mesmerizing. I miss the waiting and wondering what the next episode would be like, and then being given something that surpassed all expectations. Darn I miss that show.

Great, so 2-3 more years of being able to bring up Æon Flux without having to cringe with guilt.

If Peter Chung ain't involved, if the soundtrack ain't done by Drew Neumann, it's gonna suck. End of discussion..."Aeon Flux" was a unique combination of elements, not just the animation or the violence or the sex or even the oddly philosophical stories or the music or the sound fx. It was ALL of these things. Change one thing about "Aeon Flux," and it ain't "Aeon Flux" anymore. Make a live action movie without at least the involvement of several key people involved in the original creation, it's going to suck. I'll still see it, and I'll judge it on its own merits. I'm sure it'll be a decent movie that could stand on its own, but I will still hold some disappointment unless the people making it can really hold a torch to the original creators.
