Hi. A friend has recently given me her Vesuviana Espresso maker (Electric). However, the inside of the water carafe is corroded with white gritty flakes. I have run water through it, and it leave bits of white grit in the cup. Please help. I know there must be a way to save this wonderful machine! Any help is greatly appreciated. I would love to use this for its intended purpose. Thanks in advance! Chris

Sounds like a classic calcium/lime scale build-up issue.

There are some inexpensive product out there such as this that can eliviate your problem. Instructions are included.

(1) use soapy water and soft plastic sponge to clean inside, then use any de-scaler out their to get rid of the white flakes..

To use this machine measure the amount of coffe into the cup, packed slightly tight the grounds..pour water up to about 1 inch away from the top, screw the black top back on and then plug in,at 600 watts about 1 minute and prezto its ready
