Yes, I've been doing it for a while. The Basics: You need 2 programs and a third only because it usually helps to have when working with videos. First, get Nero Burning Rom. (It does the actual burning, and people say thats all you need for this, but I beg to differ...) Then get TMPGEnc (This program converts your video file into a MPEG NTSC video file that plays in standard U.S. DVD players that are VCD compatible) Thats really all you need to do it, so just follow directions, but I recommend this 1 more Program: Virtual Dub (I have the latest version and v1.3c. You need both because v1.3c can work with .asf files and the latest versions aren't allowed to by Microsoft) Anyways, this program is the best video editing software out there. Split/Join files, rip audio tracks and etc. etc. It also allows you to find exact properties of your file. Feel free to ask me for more information. Oh, and also, Nero is something you have to buy, but KaZaA could get it for you if you ask it nicely...;)

Sorry, I forgot a very basic thing. You need a CD burner and some blank 80 min CD-R's. That is all....

Did you specify where your audio file was located when you were encodeing in TMPEGnc? Make sure you put a dot in the section that says Audio + Video or something to that effect. If you haven't separated your video from the audio than your audio file will be the same as your video file.

Nero is really the only thing you need, but other programs might speed up the process a little. Nero converts the files into MPEG2 on it's own, but sometimes the coversion is a bit shoddy.

K sorry i didnt answer you sooner. Sess is exactly right in what he said. But im jsut not sure how to use Nero to do this (its proabably so simple too) Anyways: Virtual Dub is not vital BUT!!! I think you will need it to fix that audio problem you are having. First of all. When you open up TMPGEnc, close the window that pops up. In the Video file open menu, browse for your file. Then when it opens, if the audio doesnt come with it (it should) it is an audio encoding problem. I fix this problem with Vdub (i got it alot when burning NGE eps) open Vdub and your video file and save the audio as an uncompressed wav file. Then go back to TMPGEnc and manually open the video file, and your newly created Audio file. everything else should be pre-set in TMPGEnc so that should be all you ever have to change or configure. Select output directory and START. Then when Nero is open, make a new VCD and click and drag your MPEG VCD file into the little window. Make sure it fits on the CD-R and then hit burn. I'm not great at explaining things so look for some tutorials on VCD/DVD/SVCD burning sites.

hey thanx alot =NaJ=!!! u've helped me quite alot and for that i'm forever grateful.. lol ^_^... so i've got the basics down; but here's another question... everything is fine until i get to the burning part.. i think it might actually be a problem with my cd burner, but maybe its sumthing else? or could it be the cd-r? the brand of the cd- r i have is AT&T....

what exactly is your problem, like is there an error message, or does it just not playback on a player? More info so i can help you.

well, i encoded an .avi file (an episode of Naruto, to be exact) and when it was finished encoding, there was no sound... i tried encoding another .avi file (an episode of ayashi no ceres to be exact)and it worked fine.. there was sound, picture, etc... so basically i have no idea why one file had sound and why the other doesn't, especially since i encoded them the exact same way..

whoops! well the post i had before, that's the encoding problem.. sorry.. well the burning problem is that my system doesnt' detect the cd-r as something that it can burn stuff on.. i always get this message that says 'please insert something that has enough room' or soemthnig... um, did that make sense?
