The longer I butcher chickens the wierder it gets. We butchered 7 hens on monday of this week. One of them was egg bound and two of them had strange cysts under their skin that looked like it started with an open wound, as there was still a scab. The largest of these was 1 1/2" long by an inch wide. It was very strange. Thick and firm enough i had to cut it open with a knife.

I had few chickens wounded the other day. I think it was a fox. I wanted to butcher them to releive the pain but I couldn't get in home to get a knife or axe, as my husband took my keys as well by mistake. I was forced to put 3 chooks down by just holding their head under the gumboots and pulling their body upwards. Their heads were coming off pretty quickly but it was a bit tragic. Well that was all I could do for them.
