What do you do on Sunday?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

In today's paper there is a USA Today article titled 10 great places to get a kick out of football with this scary intro:

"It's time. Time for pro-football fans to once again worship at modern-day cathedrals known as stadiums. Time to gather in homage to that autumnal sporting rite — the first Sunday of the NFL season."

Just the simple life, Mike ...

Go to early-morning Mass,
Make a pot of cofee,
Enjoy a good breakfast,
Relax,
Watch EWTN,
Sometimes call family long-distance,
Relax,
Fool around with a hobby,
Recharge the "batteries" in preparation for another working week.

JFG
PS: That pagan "USA Today" intro was sickening.

Never , because I don't follow any religion , you know that , besides why would I go , tell me 1 good reason !!

Are you going to satanic mass ??

Are you going to a concert or something else you don't like ??

Salut & Cheers from a NON BELIEVER !!

Laurent,

You said, Never , because I don't follow any religion , you know that , besides why would I go , tell me 1 good reason !!

You would go to Catholic mass because it is the perfect way to offer sacrifice to your creator. There is no remission of sin with out the shedding of blood and so we offer Christ's perfect sacrifice of his life on Calvery and we unite our sufferings with his so they have merit too. This gives us purpose. Finding purpose in life's struggles is one good reason to go to Catholic mass every Sunday.

Mike , maybe it's for you a reason !!

Some just go , because they have to !!

Some just go , because they want to !!

Church has nothing to do with religion !!

I'm not even catholic , so , that's a very good reason for , not to go , besides we do live in a FREE country , so , something that doesn't interest me , I don't go as I wrote !!

Yes , they are/were ; about me , my parents let baptizing me , and that's the only thing in my whole life , I really disagree , for 100% , with my parents !!!! __ Since I don't feel myself religious , and I did saw the chance to left , and I did , I have no regrets I did !!

Why I sometimes come to this board ??

Some questions are interesting to answer , besides it's an open forum , so .... !! __ We do live in a democrazy !! __ Can you imagen a discussion forum , everybody agree with eachother ??

Laurent, your parents baptized you thinking that they were doing the best for you. Do not bring bad feelings to your parents about your baptism. If you disagree with your baptism, do not show that disagreement to them. You would be pulling a carpet from under their feet, not a good thing.

Laurent,

Thanks for sharing. Maybe your baptism draws you here. Sometimes a person comes to the Catholic faith by default, because everything else pans out badly. We must examine all the options. Look at our purpose in life. If we do this thoroughly, we will eventually be led to the truth, especially if we are baptised because then we have special graces to aid the search. Eventually it is seen that all other roads are ultimately not the will of God and thereby must actually be roads to slavery.

On Sunday I attend mass and try to find things to do with the Church community. I try to keep it spiritual, with religious reading, avoiding shopping or laundry if I don't absolutely need to do those things. I don't work a job on Sunday. I often go for a walk outside, attend an AA meeting and maybe nap. It is a good day to do special charity work too....I have to work on that one :) I am single so I don't have my own family, as most in my parish do, but I think being with any people of the Catholic faith is the best way to spend a good part of Sunday.

No football at all?

Not important at all , I don't like football !!

Come again?

-- Anti-bush (Comrade_bleh@hotmail.com), November 28, 2003.

Well , I don't care if they show football on TV , every day of the week , including on sunday , btw , sunday is THE day of football in Europe !! I never watch football , 'cause it's absolutely NOT my favorite sport (to me it's a boring game) !! __ But if they would forbidden football on sunday , oh ooooh , it would be a big disaster , 'cause most of the people who wants to see football live , only have free on sunday or saturday !! __ Most of the big games are on sunday !! __ There is too much $$$$$$$$ involved !!

But people who like "to rest" on sunday , ok no problem , but who are they to try to forbid other people to do things on sunday they like , like working on sunday , sports or whatever .... !!

The ones' who want go to church or pray on sunday , just go or do it , and the ones'who don't go or don't like to go , or want to do other things on sunday (except for , commit crimes) , why not !!!!
