Aside from fast ftp downloads other methods of d/ling anime requires you to leave your comp on overnight. On the bittorrent issue, did you downloaded the whole video after you downloaded the torrent? You can't play .torrent files. If you know how to use bt and the video still doesn't work you can search for xvid codec on google, that should solve the problem.

Or run the file through the torrent one more time to check that it's complete and to fix any random errors in the file.

if its playback problems, go to www.divx-digest.com go to their software section and DL one of the bigger codec packs- Nimo is usually favourite

the best codec pack out there has to be Ace Mega Codecs pack...it works almost all videos...its pretty big though (around 86 megs). try to find it though. its worth it if you are getting things with bittorrent.

but still, some files need more codecs, like new experimental ones (.mkv Matroska).

try this site for codecs for newer file formats (ogm/mkv) : http://ld-anime.faireal.net/

the best program to date to tell about which video needs which exact codec is GSpot v2.2 (i think its the newest one now)

go to: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

hope this helped...

could you post how fast you go regularly? the max i get is 25kB/s, and thats after using netlimiter to limit bittorrent's upload speed, which would always be at max, killing my download. I know of people who get 100kB down and 2kB up...how the hell???

I've gotten 100+ up and 2k down several times, but never vice versa. Otherwise I've gotten some pretty fantastic speeds off bittorrent so it's a good way to get anime. IRC is better if the file is older, though.

I've gotten 200kb/s Download and 55kb/s Upload at the same time. That's how i got a certain 3.5GB file in one day. As a thanks for that file in a hurry I left my computer on for 3 days after that simply uploading it to others. I guess if i were to draw a conclusion to all of this is if you are having troubles with download speed, limit your upload to SLIGHTLY below it's max(in my case my max is exactly 58kb/s)That way you're download will be able to go full tilt. THen when you have the file leave your comp on for a day or two out of common courtesy, keep bittorent alive!
