Cabin buildin update and Preachin!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

Well, as ya'll mite know or not know--Lil Dumplin and the old countryboy are buildin a little cabin on our farm. Settin on a bluff and trees all around--with a little creek at the bottom on the neighbors property. We got it purty well closed in and are just finishin up installin the windows. Got 3 in it already with one more to go. Fix'n to wire it for limited grid [as a back up only] and the primary power--12vdc. The size is 12X16 and settin on 4x6 skids which are settin on big crete pads. Ought not move very much.

Insulation is waitin to be put in as is the ceilin joists. Still ain't figgered out how I wanna heat it just yet. I have a nice cast iron "box" wood stove but that propane sure do sound good too!

Whoever said you can't use a chainsaw to cut out the openings for winders? I did and it is a lot easier, quicker and probably more true than the "conventional" way real carpenters do it. Rekon they do it the old slow way because it takes longer--and they charge by the hour???

Fall is on it's way and followed shortly by the cold north winds, snow and plenty of ice. I ain't ready but that's not anything new--I ain't ever ready!!

Folks-watch Israel. Prophesy is bein fulfilled each day. Each time America tries to give land away from the Jews--or badmouths Isreal--calamity hits America. Their land was given to them by Almighty God and it is to not be given away to anybody. It will, of course, when the anti-Christ comes to power after the Rapture of the Church. By then ALL Christians will be gone and Israel will stand alone. We are in the last of the last days before Jesus Christ comes for His Church in the Rapture. If you have not made Jesus Christ the Lord of you life--now is the time. After the Rapture is will be almost impossible to be saved. Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by Me"! old hoot. Matt.24:44

Hoot are ya'll gonna live in this cabin? Or are ya just gonna use it for a hidey hole? Your post remind me of this:

This world is not my home. I'm just a passin through. If heaven's nit my home, then Lord what will I do. The angels becon me from heaven's open door, and I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Oh Lord you know I have no friend like you, if heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do. The angels beckon me from heaven's open door, and I can't feel at home in this world anymore.

God bless you brother!

Hey Lil! Just fix'n to use it to kinda hide in. I don't know if'n we'll sleep in it or not but if we do--those beds are fix'n to be as good as or better than what I sleep in at home!!

It's located on top of a bluff with trees all around. A really nice place to kinda get away from all the traffic of phones and tv. Plannin on runnin water up next summer or drill a well nearby. Phone service is NOT on the burners either. If'n I want internet---a local company is puttin it in shortly. Eq. cost is $250 and $39/mo. A lot cheaper'n the others but still a lot of cash. old hoot. I enjoyed reading about your cabin. Sounds like a perfect place to be. When we bought our farm years ago, we found what was left of the original homestead cabin. There was not too much left, but I love to go there and just set and think what their life was like back then. a simpler way of life that I am trying my best to get here on our farm.

Laura! I find myself wantin to set down and watch, listen and take in the sights around the cabin too. It's not too bad inside-but when I go outside to get something and a chair is handy---!

All the insulation is in, ceilings are up, all the panelin is up and paintin has started. Wiring is completed, windows are all in and the heat wil be put in this comin week. A small direct vent Empire propane wall heater is the winner over wood heat. I ain't got time to cut wood and am also too lazy!! I can heat is with a small electric heater but don't want to--too expensive and too unhandy.

Stay tuned as we corn-tinue with our corn-struction process!! oldhoot. Matt.24:44
