greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Hi If anyone knows either what that chip thing is called or where I can buy them, please let me know. It's a chip thing that you put into the American Playstation 2 and it allows you to play games from Japan on it. I really don't wanna buy a Japanese PS2 ^.^; Thanks!

Seriously, do not risk a modchip with the PS2. Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too many horror stories I have heard about the chips frying the board. The PS2 is certainly unlike the easy modchip systems like the DC or PS1.

There are two popular mod chips, the DMS3 and the Messiah2. The DMS3 is the chip of choice.. It has these features.

Allows you to direct-boot all PS2 games including backups, imports, originals, silvers and DVD9.

Can direct-boot PSX games including backups, imports, originals, and silvers.

Plays any region DVD movies without Macrovision or RGB (green-screen) fixed.

Boot applications such as the PS2 Reality Media Player from memory card as soon as the system starts up. For more information visit Backup-Source.com. For details on mod chips, and backup procedures.
