How should we understand Death and Dying?

I often find myself thinking about my final days on this earth. I tried to visualize my final moments as I approach death. It seems so lonely. I have this two fold vision of seeing things around me and seeing myself on the death bed. This is something that is happening to me, which no one can stop. We will have that last day. But, is it sadness that will overwhelm our minds and emotions? It is difficult to say. All of our surviving loved ones might be there at our side for their last affectionate goodbyes, so we may feel the strong feelings of sadness. But, what else will we feel? Some have been known to have seen visions of Heaven, the Angels, and even the "Light". This would be a comfort and a joy to see what awaits us in the passage to the next life. Is death something to fear? Hopefully not, I would say. Are we alone in dying? Faith is powerful stuff. We are never alone, even in death.
