His estate: Maria Clemm, his aunt/mother-in-law.

1)As for Poe's literary estate, wellll....Poe had requested that his literary executor be his colleague Rufus Griswold. So Mrs. Clemm signed over Poe's publishing rights to Griswold. Biiig mistake....Griswold, in his editions of Poe's works, stated that proceeds of the books would go to Mrs. Clemm. When in truth, Griswold gave Mrs. Clemm only several sets of books to sell herself.

Much of folks' falsely negative view of Poe comes from Griswold's biography of Poe. No one guessed that Griswold would turn out to be such a back-stabbing, fraudulent, blackmailing snake. The rumors Griswold spread were far sicker than anything Poe, who had integrity, would have come up with. For more on this story, visit: http://eapoe.org/geninfo/poegrisw.htm

2)Also left out in the cold: Poe's sister, Rosalie. Legally the estate should have gone to Rosalie, who tried unsuccessfully to obtain control of it. But Mrs. Clemm's lawyer won out. Rosalie wound up in a charity home, sometimes selling pictures of her late brother in the streets. (Mrs. Clemm didn't fare much better.)

I got the info from: http://www.usna.edu/EnglishDept/poeperplex/rosaliep.htm, which has Rosalie living to the age of 64.

Also, www.eapoe.org has a photo of her, & similar dates.
