The Pope's hat must weigh as much as the sins of the whole world. However, since it is worn by a man who follows the steps of Jesus, the weight of the hat is supported by the great love of God.

I know that this might mot be the answer you want. But I felt that our reflection on the Pope important role in our time must continue.

God bless us all.

The three-tiered crowns of earlier centuries must have weighed a bit, though I can't say from experience. I have never seen one that wasn't on display behind glass. The standard miter that is generally worn today by bishops, including the Pope, weighs about 8 ounces (220 grams). A more ornate miter might weigh about a pound (440 grams).

Tarkatian,

"Be not afraid". The church has had very dark times before, is having some troubles now, and undoubtably will have them again. We have Christ's assurance though that she will remain. Trust in God, and be not afraid! It'll all work out in the end.

P.S. good to have you here

That's ok with me :) I was asked that question by a friend and did a search on Google and found your board. Someone did answer and I thank the group for that.

I did go to Catholic church and school for 3 years when I was very young.
