That's almost certainly the way it will happen -- with individual "Methodists" joining the Catholic Church, not with Methodism merging into Catholicism. Why? Some of their beliefs are too far distant from the truth. An example is their position on abortion, seen here at the official "United Methodist Church" site.

Let's pray for millions of individual conversions of UMC people who come to realize that they must be pro-life.

That's interesting. I didn't know that they approved of abortion.

Thhe Catholic church is adapting every day to Protestants, so we are looking better and better to them. Maybe that is the new way to go.

Thhe Catholic church is adapting every day to Protestants, so we are looking better and better to them.

Riley, that is a misleading statement, because it implies that the Church changes her doctrines to attract non-Catholics. She does NOT change her doctrines. Through the centuries, she changes only what is alterable -- and then only rarely. It is good if the Church looks "better and better" to Protestants, but it also true that Protestantism is looking worse and worse to them. The latter is partly due to the greater possibilities (such as this forum) for them to encounter the Catholic fullness of truth while they learn about the errors and omissions in Protestantism.
