eBay - Good source for Manga scans

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Just wanted to let you guys know that if you do use eBay, or if you want to, manga scans are being sold on eBay as well, and they're pretty cheap. A CD can usually contain a whole manga series, and they're not too expensive either, usually around $8 to $10. Just type "manga scan" in the search.

Plus, the sellers are pretty generous too. I recently bought a Inuyasha Manga Scan CD, and the seller also included two Inuyasha OSTs in MP3, and the whole Mermaid's Saga and I's series! Of course, it ain't free, but given as to how hard it is to find manga scans, you should check it out. Just make sure to buy from a seller with a lot of good references.

I recently downloaded the whole of Mermaid's Saga and I's off #mangaproject for free, it's not that hard to find manga scans if you're really serious.

Well, yeah, of course it's easy with mIRC...if you're not on dial-up and can actually get on the #mangaproject channel...unlike me... *sniff*

Oh, boo hoo. You won't pay an extra $15 a month to get a faster internet connection. That's not our fault.

Has it ever occured to you that maybe SOME people can't afford a faster internet connection?

WOW, this just turned from an informative post to a useless arguement. I kinda am torn between both sides. Of course it's free to d/l manga but it's also hard to find a complete or specific series even on IRC.

Sorry for interupting your retarded argument guys!

Hey, Ned O.B.!, now would be the perfect time to start saying baby shit like: "Oh, boo hoo"

LOL!

IRC has everything, the problem is finding the channel that has mangas/warez/anime/whatever you are finding.
a 56ker should be able to d/l a manga just fine, 20 min is not what i call a long wait.

*sigh*

You try to help others by giving information, and you get flamed for it. Jeez...sometimes it doesn't help to help others...

You're not being flamed, I'm just pointing out that it's cheaper and faster to find things on IRC. Where do you think the eBay seller got all his stuff from in the first place? He sure as heck didn't download and rip that stuff himself, I can tell you!

Did I say "download"? I meant he didn't scanslate that stuff by himself, he leeched them. And if he leeched them, so can you. If you want to pay for this stuff, that's up to you. And apart from #mangaproject, there's also #mangareaders, #manga-section and #akatsuki-manga, so don't despair if you can't get into one channel.

heh, i wouldn't reccomend buying scanalated mangas and subbed anime from people. those subbers worked hard and got nothing, and some leechers get paid just to download that stuff which IMHO is lame. i think that should be your absolute LAST method to get manga/anime. *not a flame*

I have to admit that yes, internet connections may be difficult. from where i am from a decent internet connection (i.e. broadband) cost around $100 per month. Of course there is a cheaper alternative for a 56k line (which really has a datatransfer of aroudn 2kbps). I have a 56k line at home and i tried downloading manga from the irc and always got disconnected from downloading since the data rate keeps on falling down. I don't think that an internet connection problem is laughable. I guess lucky for me I can use the broadband connection elsewhere to download manga. I feel sorry for those who can't download manga...if there is an alternative source to get these mangas then why not?

A regular manga chapter = 3 mb.
3 mb * 1024 kb/1 mb = 3072 KB
56kers download at 4 KB/S
3072 / 4 = 768 seconds = 12.8 minutes.
There's so many fileservers on irc with 30+ manga series with no queues that it is not even funny. Since there's no queues you do not need to count the waiting time you need like d/ling anime on irc.

i would like to dl stuff from #mangaproject but i dunno to go there... can someone teach mi?

-- Anonymous, November 16, 2003

go to http://www.sysreset.com/, d/l the irc client, run it, in the status window type /server irc.mircx.com, then you type /j #mangaproject, in the channel window, type !list, then you type the sentence inside the bracket labeled trigger. If they tell you that you need to type /dccserver +sc on 59, then it means you can't access it due to technical difficulties and you should just go to the next fileserver.
