Ex-Catholics???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Senor BSD: Please tell me how you justify making the following characterization:

"Ex-Catholics (Psyche, jake, Soapy, Emerald, Jeff) . . ."

in the Freemasonry thread. Are you among the Authority of the Church that may infallibly excommunicate these people? Are these people self-declared "ex-Catholics"? If not, please cite the binding authoritative Church pronounciations deeming them as outside the Church. I'm very confused. Unless you are not a layman (and I believe you are), I though laymen could not deem people outside the Church without objective external evidence? Otherwise, aren't you committing the same error that sedevacantists commit when they deem Pope John Paul II a heretic? Very confusing.

Sorry, JaiAlaiMe. I didn't mean to leave you out and make you feel lonely -----

"Ex-Catholics (Psyche, jake, Soapy, Emerald, Jeff, Jaime E)"

It will be a frigid noon in the Sahara before I ever let myself be interrogated by you -- or any other schismatic or heretic, Pavito Nuevo.

This is a place for legitimate discussions of Catholic beliefs and practices. Pages are not to be wasted in the way you have begun to waste this one. Don't expect another word out of me here, since I expect this page to be deleted.

Dear -- Jaime Esquierva (nobis_peccatoribus:
I don't believe those posts are from ex-Catholics; and nobody says they are. BSDwhoever makes these comments only snide-style; and they're clearly uncharitable.

Of a few my only description might be ''Unfaithful Catholics.'' Possibly ''Fallen-away Catholics.'' Possibly Catholics who bring scandal on the faith.

They will live out their lives for better or worse, as God gives them permission. You & I will too. The baptismal character imprinted on our souls will survive this life and go with us to the next. Catholics of every stripe; good and bad. I hope many of our friends here who bring scandal will repent before they die. That will make them faithful Catholics again.

You say "tomayto," and I say "tomahto."
You say "fallen away Catholics," someone else says "lapsed Catholics," and I say "ex-Catholics."
I consider the three synonymous.

B.S.D.

I think the point is -what you consider really does not matter -I agree.

If what any of us says didn't "matter," Danny Dingleberry, we wouldn't be here discussing things.
