While working as a NC Train Host 1 Nov. 03 on the northbound Carolinian (Amtrak # 80), I noticed that our consist included the private car "Mount Vernon". Wondered if this lightweight belonged to any of our affiliate lines? Thanks for any info. Bob

After looking at the address given in my answer above to Bob's question, I've got to believe that the State should be Virginia instead of South Carolina. The South Carolina state reference has been in the Railcharters' website post for virtually a full year with no correction! Go figure! Aaron Dowling

Bob: Here is some information about the MOUNT VERNON. I checked with Railcharter.com and obtained the following information: Car History: Built by the Budd Company in 1950 as the sleeper PACIFIC ISLAND for Union Pacific RR. Owned by Amtrak 1971-1995. Acquired by Dominion Rail Voyages, LLC and refurbished 1999-2002. Address: 4351 Pembroke Village Dr., Alexandria, SC 22309-1862. Tel #: 703-767-3606 PR Description: "Relax and enjoy the service and scenery while traveling on this six double bedroom lounge car. Features include an elegant mahogany paneled lounge/dining area, with audio/video entertainment system, a full service stainless steel kitchen, and a spacious shower with changing area. Sleeping accommodations for 12; accommodates 20 for daytime trips." WOW! (no mention of $price)
