Response to Dose Jesus really forgive me? I've sinned so much? Why should he?

1. Does Jesus really forgive me? Jesus will forgive you. However, you must accept His forgiveness that He promises in scripture! He desires *so much* that ALL people - that you - receive the rewards of salvation. Murderers, thieves, prostitutes, liars, addicts, sexual abusers, physical abusers, and all sinners: Christ wants all of us to ask His divine forgiveness and experience the conversion of heart that He offers.

2. I've sinned so much... When Jesus was nailed to the cross, he carried with Him every sin that we ever shall and ever have committed. His crucifixion was the death of the power of sin and the death that sin can bring. He endured that for us so that sins may be forgiven. He is infinite in His mercy and forgiveness, and my friend, we have no ability to outdo that. Every waking moment could be lived giving into sin and God would forgive each one.

3. Why should he? A good question. There is no reason He should! We are nothing next to Him. We sin everyday, I know I do, and yet He still forgives us. "Why Lord, look and see how miserable and worthless I am! Why do you forgive me? How can you love me?" This is troublesome for us. And yet he looks at us and asks in return, "What reason do I need to do anything? I am God. I have made you, I love you, and I have made this known to you. Nothing you can do can erase the love for you in My heart. I made you to be loved, and so when you return to my love through my forgiveness, it is my joy."

4. How can someone like me be a Christian? Or can I? Mother Theresa said, "Christ thirsts for souls." He longs for you as though you were the only person in existence, and even that is not enough to describe that love. There is *no sin* that he does not (or cannot!) forgive. Look at St. Paul. He killed Christians (and felt quite good about it) before Jesus called him to spread the Gospel to the many regions of the Roman Empire. God forgave Paul, and Paul's acceptance of this gave him a new life in Christ. Christ has this new life for you, and He will give it as many times as you need it. He will welcome you back into His arms and infinite number of times.

My dear one, YOU ARE LOVED! Remember there is nothing you can do that God cannot fix. There is no evil that you commit that God cannot turn to good. Only we separate ourselves from God; God never leaves us. Your heart is never too broken for God to mend and then reside in.

I cannot emphasize enough that you must accept God's forgiveness! You must forgive yourself, and this is sometimes the hardest task. Know that the more you can forgive yourself, the more you admit that you believe that Christ forgives! You must surrender the sickness, the madness to God and realize that only he can free you from it! Go to Him with your nothingness so that you may experience Him giving you everything! True surrender ... I do not deny that this is hard work, but I offer you one more quote from Blessed Mother Theresa, "Give yourself fully to God. He will use you to accomplish great things on the condition that you believe much more in His love than in your own weakness.

May the love of God surround you and hold you close, Paul O'Brien

If you are really sorry for all that you have done and love to come back to be right with God. Then, your sorrow like a flash prayer already reached the Heavenly Father. He is saying "All you saints and holy ones give way, my lost son is back, I want to just embrace him and never let him go again." Jesus is happy, Mother Mary is happy, all angels, saints are happy, and all Christians are happy. There is great rejoicing. Let nothing stop you. The blood of Christ will purify you. You will feel so good, just as if you have never sinned. The Holy Spirit is actually leading you to eternal life. If you are a Catholic, run to a priest and confess everything in detail. Be careful not to skip even one sin, then accept "the peace that passeth all understanding" that comes by the absolution by authority of God Himself.

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!

To all in the posts who tolerated me: I will be gone for two weeks from 11/09/2003 to 26/09/2002. Until then, bye.

QUOTE:FAITH,I am so greatful that there are people on this forum who do understand the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Am i and other catholics on this forum to assume that we don't understand the true Gospel. I have read alot if your replies here and frankly most have been negative and i'm surprised you are still here.seeing that you disagree with just about everything and all things related to Catholic Doctorine. If it is so unpleasent here and you don't like it then perhaps another forum would be better suited for you.

Sorry but that is how i feel.

Mr. O'Brien

In part I agree with you. We do not deserve the forgiveness that we are given in the Sacrament of Penance.

However there are some other things that you said that don't sound right. "Every waking moment could be lived giving into sin and God would forgive each one. " Not quite true. Sin is not forgiven unles one has at least Imperfect Contrition, or better, Perfect Contrition for ALL of the sins that on ehas committed. Also you said that there is "*no sin*" that cannot be forgiven. That too is not true. In the Gospel Our Lodr tells us that there is one sin that will "neither be forgiven in this life or in the next". That sin is blashpemy against the Holy Spirit, which can take for itself many forms. †AMDG

Ya know, I have thought about that one unforgivable sin alot.

What's with this "Ya know" business? No, we don't know. Just say your piece without the preliminaries, please. Better yet, don't say your piece at all, because it never benefits anyone here (as Andrew Tillcock clearly explained).

Yes, you "have thought about that one unforgivable sin alot [sic]" -- because you have to try to figure everything out on your own. This is evidenced by the last sentence too: "That's what I think Jesus meant."

We don't really care what YOU "think Jesus meant." What matters is what the Church infallibly TEACHES that he meant. And the Church, taking what has been passed down from ancient times, tells us that the key "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit" is final impenitence -- being unwilling to be sorry for our sins at the moment of death. And that is exactly why it "cannot be forgiven."

I like the way our Priest puts it . . . "If you are truely sorry for your sins in the past . . . then that's where they are . . . in the past . . . forgotton . . . completely.

-- Leon (vol@weblink2000.net), November 13, 2003.

Leon, was he referring to mortal sins or venial sins?

And was he saying that even mortal sins are "in the past ... forgotten ... completely" without sacramental Confession?

Well, Leon?

-- (FaithWithout@Works.IsDead), November 16, 2003.

I believe Jesus forgives us ANY sin if we are truly sorry for committing it. With that in mind it helps me to forgive myself which at times seems to be the hardest thing to do. I beleive Jesus died for our sins and is the son of God and that is all I'll ever need to know.
