The Big O Manga

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Animes : One Thread

Though the English version of the manga itself is being released, Lost Memory is an alternate manga by the same writer that I do not yet know is coming to America. I do wonder where I could find any places with scans for either the regular or lost memory manga.

Wow, gee, thanks! All these past few years when I actually thought I liked Big O, it sucked donkey balls the whole time! Thanks for letting me know about that, man! I only wish you had told me sooner!

You're the one who sucks if you say BIG-O sucks. Maybe you haven't even watched the anime, or you did but you can't understand. It doesn't fall on your level of understanding since you're so low.

You're type of anime might be those of yuu watase so you suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Well... it *kinda* sucks. I'll explain:

It started out really fucking cool!! Then when episode 13 left you on a cliffhanger, it made it even cooler... it made the wait that much more exciting. When episode 14 FINALLY came to [adult swim], you thought you had begun the last steps of an incredible journey. Unfortunately, the climax and incredible stoy that WAS building up was all for nothing. It ended abruptly without a decent ending.... The city still remains in ruins, the event 40 years ago STILL remains undiscovered, the final fight was kind of cool.. but was a bit short, and the whole issue with the union was pointless because it did not serve as anything in the end. I mean, c'mon, there should have been something where the poor people of Paradigm city stood up and rebelled against Alex and an all-out war would take place. And that's the other thing... YOU NEVER FIND OUT ABOUT ROGER SMITH'S PAST AS A PILOT!!! THE ONLY CLUES YOU GET ARE IN THE "Hydra" EPISODE WHERE HE HAS A HUGE FLASHBACK AND SUPPOSEDLY HE'S ONE OF THE ONLY PILOT'S LEFT FIGHTING A LEVIATHAN!! I was thinking that this couldn't get any cooler... and sadly it didn't. Like I said, The Big O started out really awesome... but the ending was worse than Escaflowne's.

I do agree the ending was sort of a cop out leaving the viewer to decide what exactly happened but the third season that cartoon network has the option to push through would explain things. I mean, it was the series ratings before that got it this far after the RD series finally thing. Glad they got to finish it and all. But besides what it could mean something concrete would be better as there were many things they didn't touch upon.

Then again, the manga itself does not follow the same story past some major plot points that are mirrored in both, however different they may be. Considering Angel both steals Dorothy's memories and takes off with the Big Fau activated with them owning the Big O underwater with depth charges and manuverability alone as it sinks all but makes this better in many ways. Lost memories was just a different ending split from the second to last volume showing a different path the series could take as some what of a parallel run.

Then there was the whole season 2 continuation thing pointed out in the manga's back pages which may or may not have been Lost Memories and where they were taking that later on in it. It was only two issues, but who knows. I only have a scant few details. I'm just angry it's taking until later next month for all the translations to come out and vol. 5 the end of this one in my area. I have translations for the actual story, but only those who ordered stuff have gotten their hands on everything including the writer interview stuff though most of that was in the non translated version that had it's own distribution some time back.
