Arminian vs Armenian

Does anyone know the difference between Arminian and Armenian ?

I believe Arminian is one who follows the theology of someone surnamed Arminius, which opposed the 5 points of Calvinism TULIP.

I don't know anything really about armenian tho. Is that a branch of Christianity or a completely different religion ?

I'd also like to know the Catholic Church's views on each.

Thanks,
Olly.

Oliver, you are right about "Arminian" -- from Arminius.
Here is a page on Calvinism vs. Arminianism.
Here is a page from the site of Catholic convert/apologist, Dave Armstrong, who calls himself a "former Arminian Evangelical."

An Armenian is a person from the ancient nation, Armenia, a former Soviet puppet republic that is once again independent. Armenia adopted Christianity very early in the first millennium A.D.. According to various Internet sites, the approximate breakdown of religious affiliation in Armenia is the following:

Armenian Apostolic [Orthodox] 94%

other Christian, including Catholic 4%

Yezidi (non-Christian Zoroastrian/animist) 2%

God bless you.
