Integrity for sale?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

I had a discussion with someone the other day who shared a story about something that happened in their chosen profession. It was a legal issue that happened years ago. Basically this person knew of some impropriety but would have been blackballed in their chosen profession if they reported it, so they let it go by. It leads me to the question, Is everybody's integrity for sale? I just wouldn't work in a profession that required me to lie and cheat to be accepted there. This person left that profession as well. However if the person in question ever intends to reenter that profession they would be accepted without question because they sold their integrity. What an Icky society we live in!

There was a time when business was done on a handshake in this country. It really is too bad, that it can't be done that way anymore.

Think of all the things that never get found it. The number of them must be truly staggering.

Society seems to be on the way out.

Theres such a thing as right-livelyhood. If you gotta lie, cheat and steal in order to remain in ones "profession" maybe its time to do honest work.

It seems like this is very common these days, the age of disinformation, half-truths etc. It makes me wanna puke, I'm so sick of dealing with liars and cheats. It leaves one with always watching ones back and never being able to trust anyone.

LBF! In the Word it spaks of "what's done in darkness will be shown in LIGHT" at the judgment. That means--EVERYBODY will know what was done secretly!

I agree with John--I'm so sick of all that garbage too. A lot of the time this is done by "honest, upstanding" and "professing" Christians.

"I would that you wert either hot or cold but because you are lukewarm I will spew thee out of My mouth"!! old hoot. Matt. 24:44

Hoot sez "I agree with John--I'm so sick of all that garbage too. A lot of the time this is done by "honest, upstanding" and "professing" Christians."

Yup, and the rest of the time its done by the so- called "professionals".
