On Pain and Suffering

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Chris, I've seen you mention something about offering up your pain and/or suffering to Christ on the cross. Could you explain that again, please? Thank you.

Or is there maybe a particular saint that any of you have asked to intervene on your behalf for pain?

Something? Anything? I've been praying to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and that does seem to be helping a little but I thought maybe there was something else someone here could offer.

Thanks and God bless~

Jackiea,

I am not Chris, but thought I would offer you something, if even small. A while back I wrote a little bit about the passion, which, when I look back at it might be helpful to you in that the insights offered by Jake seemed to enhance what I was trying to say. Personally, I hate recommending my own threads, but I only started it and Jake seemed to end it. Check it out if it is still around. It is entitled, "Passion."

God Bless

Hi, Jackiea. I'm too sick tonight to write too much, but I saw this thread and I wanted to say that in order to offer your pain to God, in union with the cross, all you have to do is will that the pain be offered. You can just say, "I offer this pain to you, Lord, in union with the cross, for the conversion of sinners. Amen."

The New Testament speaks strongly about how, in prayer, our effort, sincerity, and frequency, really have an effect, and there is, ina sense, no greater effort or sincerity we can show to God than even to accept in humble obedience the pains we receive. While we should pray for hardships to be removed, and we should do what is right and prudent to avoid calamities, when hardship and pain do occur, we offer them in obedience to the Father, for the conversion of sinners.

I don't know if this helped any, but since it sounds like things are difficult for you right now, I wanted to say something in the hope that it might help in some way. God bless you.

Yes, Christopher. Yes, you helped. That's what I needed to know. I wasn't sure how to say it so, thank you.

I pray you feel better soon, dear friend. Go lie down and take it easy. I'll say a Hail Mary for you, Chris.

Peace and love in Christ be with you~

I was looking for a page on His Passion, and I came across this. I thought you might like to see it, Chris.

After looking for the post on Gene's sister for some time I decided that this as an appropriate place to post this as a result:

I just wanted to simply say to you Gene for your sister Berta, For you Jackiea, and Chris B that you all have my deepest heartfelt prayers that God will somehow make you all better as soon as possible. It deeply saddens me to see someone suffer pain and sickness as you all have and seen. I to this day have many long memories of seeing many of my loved ones come and go. So it is not easy for me to express sadness due the pains that life has. But We all do need all of you to be up and about for us all on this forum because I have loved all you have done for me and others to date. As you can see words are not easy for me and I just wanted to say that My LOVE for all of you and GOD's supreme LOVE is always with you all.

Blessings.
