What's your weather?

0930 - 36* here with a wind chill of 27*. Wind out of the NW at about 14 mph. Overcast, barometer starting to drop. We've got snow flurries forecast for today through Friday. We've already had one snow with accumulation, started in the middle of Thanksgiving night; but it was all gone by the time I got up for work that Friday afternoon. I'm off work today with no plans other than going out to supper with Uncle Roger, Pop, and Hubs; so I think Hubs and I will brave the basement stairway closet and pull out the winter decorations - wish us luck!

Right now we're about the same as you Polly, but they're predicting 4- 7 inches of snow by Friday. I was already planning on going to the grocery store tonight but with this news the place will be a madhouse. I have a theory that when the grocery stores get overstocked with bread, milk, eggs, and TP they bribe the local weather service to forcast a winter storm.

Do people go into a grocery buying frenzy when bad weather is predicted where you are?

Yeah, I think they do, tho I dunno for sure as I try to stay away from the stores as much as possible in the winter anyway! I sneak into work the back way, which is mostly country roads, so I don't even go by any stores unless I need to buy gas or whatever; then I'll take the highway. We're well enough stocked up that we could go quite a while without hitting the market - we may not be eating what we WANT, but we've always got plenty to eat. We bought a couple of "trash cans" this fall - 55 gallon barrels that had held juice, put liners in them and keep them in the basement utility room, full of collected rain water. They are actually for doing laundry, but would come in handy if the power went out.

How far are you from the nearest store? Do you need some pantry stocking tips from those of us who've been out in the boonies for a while?!

Very mild for MN December....in the 30's during the day, nearly 40 today. Still too cold for me though! I am happy I do not have to work outside in the winter anymore! Cold is very painful to me; it just plain hurts. We have white ground, but not very deep. Suppposed to get an inch or two tomorrow.

Driving home last night was like driving through the Pacific Ocean...never seen it rain so hard! Weather here is screwy! One week it will be really cold and clear; the next week it's all monsoony and blustery. We also had unseasonally EARLY snow already. The way it's shaping up, it should be an interesting winter!

Right now at 9:30 a.m. it's 57. We have been having a very mild fall so far. Usually it has gotten in the low 30's at night by now, but we have only gotten into the 40's so far. I love cold weather but my friend "Arthur" hates it!!LOL My neck hurts usually the whole winter.

Blessings, Sandy

It's been snowing for two days now. Gary got out of school early because they were expecting it. We went for physcal therapy early too so as not to get caught in it.

Gary put the plow on the ATV and plowed (I kept telling him not to hit my truck) Glenn was surprised he did it but then again, he never gives us credit for the things we do. This morning, Glenn used the snow blower even though I said the ATV is easier. I don't fight about it any more. If he wants to do more work, let him. I hate that snowblower myself. It never starts for me....it's a really old model. I usually end up swearing at it and get so mad that I finally get it started by jerking on the rope.

Put the Christmas lights up and it blew the whole set up. Took everything down and put up new ones...as the blizzard was blowing. Looks nice though.

Walked out of work Friday morning to an inch or so of heavy, wet snow on top of the car; roads weren't too bad tho. It had all melted off by the time I got up for my shift that afternoon. Today, the temp was in the 30's, with a south wind that still somehow managed to chill me to the bone. Then again, it might not have done so if I'd had sense enough to wear a coat!

Had our first appreciable snowstorm last weekend. Lots of wind, too!! It was really great! All totalled we got about a foot....but it's ALL gone now!! Bummer :-(! We've had 40 degree (daytime) weather and rain the past couple of days.

Freakin' cold is what it is! 15* when I got off work this morning, with a wind chill of 5*. It's warmed up to nearly freezing now; with falling temps back down in the teens and snow predicted for tonight. Guess I'd better put my snow boots and emergency box in the rental. Sigh.

Getting more snow here today. We have about 8" on the ground and now it's changing over to rain!! Yuck! I'd rather have all snow...it's not as treacherous!

During that last storm, Harry plowed up our Directv line to the dish. We finally got Mike to come over yesterday and splice it back together before this new storm. Now I gotta make sure Harry doesn't get carried away with his plowing and do it again :-)!!!

Freezing drizzle (everyone's favorite!) last night driving home from work, now covered with three more inches of snow. Mid-20's today, very windy, blowing new snow all over the place. At least we don't have to clear our 600 foot long driveway cuz the guy down the street keeps it plowed very well.......all this snow would be costin us a fortune to pay someone to plow every few days, but we've bartered by letting our snowplow guy park equipment on our property all year (clearing in the woods) cuz he has no room for it on his suburban lot. Great deal!
