Michael Crichton on Environmentalism. Long but a good read

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACountryPlace : One Thread

This is a very interesting speech on Environmentalism from September of this year. I won't copy it all here because of the lenght, but go read it. Worth the effort.

I contend that there is hope for Michael Crichton yet. Now if he will only get around to admitting that Athiesm is also a religion, and that the reason " that you cannot eliminate religion from the psyche of mankind" is because God created us with that innate knowledge and desire, He just might stumble on to the truth. This article truly makes me smile.

I don't know anything about his personal beliefs Lil'Bit, but it's hard to argue w/ most of the logic in this speech, in regards to envirnmentalism. Now, you could use that same logic and construct an equally valid argument about Atheism and I'd be just as inclined to agree w/ you. Because you'd be right. But he's right about the environmental movement being/becoming a religion of sorts. I find your answer odd, in that you don't say much of anything about the content of the speech, only about crichton himself.

Would say, from this speech, that Crichton is a liberal or a conservative or (shall we be so lucky) neither?
