I don't exactly hate it, but, given the fact that the English translations suck, the producers are scum, and the FCC are idiots, I give the English version an "F-".

I've only seen the english version of it but I want to see the japanese version

-- ~*AngelGoten*~ (angelgoten@hotmail.com), December 23, 2003.

My brother watches it. I think it sucks but I've never seen the Japanese version. I HAVE read many complaints about how 4Kids screwed it royally and really edited it, though. Kinda like what they did to Pocket Monsters, ne? THAT's a great example of why you gotta watch the Japanese version of something!!!! English Pocket Monster sucks!!!!!!! And I assume that goes the same with Yu-Gi-Oh?

It's the same for "Sailor Moon" and other animes when translated into English for Americans. Some of the episodes were heavily edited, some left out altogether because the content is a bit much for kids under the age of 11 or younger, and because it's a shoujo anime, it didn't get the respect it so richly deserves in America. The same with "Magic Knight Rayearth", "Saint Tail", "Revolutionary Girl Utena", and the rest. American censorship is at best schitzoprenic, at it's worst, detrimental and disastorous for Anime in general.

Don't forget Dragonball--It fits under that catagory as well.

The english version of yugioh is AWFUL! they ruined DMG when she 1st appeared (they added a blue skirt to her and then it dissapears! HOW WEIRD/STUPID IS THAT??!) also, they ruined "tea" with all the junk she talks about in the english version. >_<'

Meh. I don't really like the series at all, be it English or the uncut Manga. Call me hypocrite though, I DO like Duel Masters...Mostly I think that the animation in Yu-Gi-Oh! is kind creepy looking, and I really don't follow it. Aw well.

-- Suupaa Gohan 2 (draqgonballz@aol.com), March 29, 2004.

ohhh!! I HATE ENGLISH VERSION! but I love yugioh !!! (in japanese)

-- Zark Nagiri (city_wet@hotmail.com), April 03, 2004.

That's exactly how I feel about Dragonball. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE WORSHIP the Japanese version as one of the best Anime series of all time, but the English version is just fucked up beyond words. BEYOND WORDS, I SAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-- Suupaa Gohan 2 (dragonballz@aol.com), April 05, 2004.

True, true, America/U.S. get's japanese anime just because japan want money, shit if i make one cool anime i won't let it be in America, unless they will keep the japanese language and put in subtitles, if not, i'll kill them myself, please give my your opinion, e-mail me because i really want to know. Thanks Again.

-- Shin Banto (Bone_Xiong_llk@Hotmail.com), April 10, 2004.

No, you know what the NEW American scum is about Anime?

TEEN TITANS.

That show is PURE SHIT. All it is is an AMERICAN cartoon created by AMERICAN assholes who thought it would be cool to RIP OFF all things unique about Anime-Fall down thing, sweat drops, funny faces, you name it that show ripped it off. Even the theme song is sung as if to be sung by Japanese people. It is shit like that that SHAMES THE GOOD NAME OF ANIME. Anyone agree with me on this?

-- Suupaa Gohan 2 (dragonballz@aol.com), April 12, 2004.

yes

-- Shin Banto (Bone_Xiong_llk@Hotmail.com), April 12, 2004.

Does anyone know some good original japanese yugioh websites?

-- Bella (rainy_day89@hotmail.com), April 27, 2004.

-- Shadow (sanityhacker@yahoo.com), April 30, 2004.

Alex get the fuck outta here.

I've just recently picked up Yu-Gi-Oh! from Shonen Jump. The manga's pretty good. Where can I download Japanese episodes of it? Now I'm kinda interested!! Bakura's hot!! And the song Ashita Moshi Kimi ga Kowarete mo kicks so much ass it's now my 10th fave song!!!!!!!

-- Suupaa Gohan 2 (dragonballz@aol.com), May 07, 2004.

As a big anime fan, I honestly have to say that they have killed Yugioh in English. Who wanted to make this anime into a kiddie cartoon anyways? I mean, it's anime! It's not for kids, so why mutilate it by changing the Japanese names into English ones? Oh that made me so mad! Whoever said that Dragonball was ever a great anime must not watch good quality anime. I mean, DB characters have no depth, the plot never changes, and they don't even have great animation. My personal favorite anime is Rurouni Kenshin. Excellent fight scenes, plenty of swearing and blood, awesome effects, and great characters. Hopefully they stop this murder of anime by trying to turn it to US versions.

I never really followed it cuz I don't get the whole big deal about the card game. But interestingly enough...

Yesterday I went to Barnes and Noble to see if Flame of Recca Vol. 6 was out yet. It wasn't. I was gonnaget GetBackers Vol. 2, but I wanted to read something new that day and I had already borrowed it from a friend and read it so...I picked up Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol. 1 and skimmed it. I didn't see any card games, and so I figured what the Hell and bought it. It was great!! I'm anxious to get Vol. 2 already!! It was very nice and so now I think I'm gonna get hooked on the series.

Oh side note...

In Shonen Jump the art in the later chapters is much better, which is to be expected as most Manga art improves over time. But Jonouchi's hair was totally different!! When it showed him and Honda take the Millenium Puzzle away from Yugi at first I didn't even realize it was them until it said their names!! Jonouchi looked NOTHING like the did in Jump!! A personally like original Jonouchi's look better though. Anyone who has a clue what I'm talking about...Do you agree or dissagree?

-- Suupaa Gohan 2 (dragonballz@aol.com), June 01, 2004.

First off, Yu-Gi-Oh sucks no matter what language it's in, because the plot and concept makes no sense. They want you to believe that the "power of friendship" helps you make better strategic moves and that the "heart of the cards" makes you pick up exactly the right card at exactly the right time or makes your monsters stronger somehow in a card game. Pure and utter bullshit.

Second, have you people ever thought that maybe the creators of "Teen Titans" were not ripping off the so-called "anime style", but actually paying tribute to it? I mean, wouldn't you rather have "anime style" shows that are originally written in English so there is nothing lost in translation or censoring? I know I would. If that doesn't convince you, think about this: most of the people who made "Teen Titans" ARE Japanese.

-- Kevin Karst (zv11@hotmail.com), June 11, 2004.

UM, no asshole, they're not. Look at the credits. I'd elaborate but I have a bus to catch. Ja ne.

-- Suupaa Gohan 2 (dragonballz@aol.com), June 11, 2004.

You think english version sucks? ha!. You should see spanish version it is horrible.

Japanese version is the best.

-- Gold oac (oac25@hotmail.com), July 02, 2004.

I heard that they were deeply thinking about selling un-edited Japanese dvd's with Eng. Sub-titles..

Heard from a guy that the plot in Japan later on will consist of Jonouichi and another in big suits of armor, hitting eachother to death.. Doesnt that loathe SWEEEEEEEEEETness?

-- Mike. (tiduswakkaffx10@yahoo.com), July 04, 2004.

The english version sucked sooo much that I decided to buy eps.1 - 199 on dvd [Jap. with Chinese and [crappy] english subs].

-- Casey (Sakuyamon2010@aol.com), July 07, 2004.

"They try to get you to believe in the power of friendship"

You may not realize this but that happens in a LOT of Anime because friendship, true friendship IS powerful!

"That the Heart of the cards will help you draw exactly the right card to make your monster stronger"

That's only the English version there smart guy. Have you even seen the original?

"It's a stupid card game"

Wrong, the card game didn't become big until about volume seven in the manga so it's obviously more thena card game

-- Kirk Bowers (EAsim45mercury@yahoo.com), July 12, 2004.

Hmm... I havn't really seen the Japanese version of Yugioh, but i don't mind the english one that much...

i don't really know how much they edit japanese versions to make english ones, but i do know they did a lot of editing to Dragonball/Z/GT...

-- Bucky (buckybuckster@hotmail.com), September 25, 2004.

I definatly hate the english dub.

-- Shawaazu (yuyu_hakusho_fan@yahoo.com), October 30, 2004.

I actually saw the first episode of season 0 of Yu Gi Oh and it was pretty good. Even though Yu gi sounds like a little girl the dark part of him turned people insane in the show. Damn it I wish I could find the second episode. if you know any sites with the season 0 episodes please tell me!

-- ????????????????? (okanawati@hotmail.com), January 05, 2005.

pshhh here's the thing... english is terrible and always will be terrible... BUT only if u watch japanese then english or not too much english then japanese.... If u can get absorbed into the english version of anime then believe me... the japanes versions will be even.. especially if u watch on adult swim which get it pretty accurate.. as i compared.. They even went far enought to put in yu-yu hakusho genkai with a cigarrette and burned urameshi... of course when they put it somewhere else on cartoon network they completely skipped it... and not only that they destroyed the story!! So here's my point.... i can stand things like teen titans, and Dragonball simply because i dont need to see blood and gore to get the action across. I know wats going on. And i can take that stupidity from tea in yu-gi-oh.. but what i cant stand is when the people destroy the story. Oh yeah and i dont like to read when i'm watching TV thats a big turnoff of subbed episodes.. i'd much rather hear people talking stupid in english then people swearing in japanes... i mean who cares if they're swearing if its in a language you cant understand? Oh yeah... changed names thats no big deal.. and if i really wanted to see porn or blood in my anime i'd get something with porn or blood!

-- Demon (xtoondragonx@yahoo.com), February 01, 2005.

YES! Yugi-oh looks like it would be cool in Jap but I have no idea where to download eps. Everyone in English sounds like a pansy and they have to make it appropriate for 7 year olds. Its a shame really.
