Happy Holidays to you, Dee; and to your family too. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. And, if you don't celebrate Christmas, it's a good time to get started on that resolution or to- do list for 2004, y'know!

Pop has been complaining a lot from the cold, so he ended up with fleece lined jeans, sweaters, sweatshirts, long underwear and the like! We sent out to WA state to get his some of his favorite candies - Aplets and Cotlets; and he also got items to accessorize the golf cart that he uses to get around the farm on - flashing dice, a bell and compass, a rear-view mirror so he doesn't run over things going backwards.... We also managed to find him three new birdfeeders that are larger (hold more seed, so less trips to fill) and that are also easier to open and get seed in - you'd be amazed at the poor design of some bird feeders out there on the market! We were standing there at Rural King, taking them out of the boxes and checking them out when the manager stopped by and asked us not to take them out of the boxes. I explained why we were doing it (Pop's stroke, poor manual dexterity, wanting to maintain his independence, mostly older people feeding birds, etc..) and he said he'd never thought of that, and helped us find one that would work. Next time I went in, he had a whole end aisle full of the kind we'd chosen with a sign on them about being easy to open, easy to fill etc..!

Jes was happy with her normal loot - perfume, jewelry, candles, fancy underdrawers and little teddy bears. Santa also brought her a big honking skillet, and a sack full of "special" groceries.

Hubs got beer making supplies, wine yeast, fire starters (safer than kerosene!), the requisite new underwear and a case full of empty beer bottles! He also got some news that made him happy yesterday morning - a part-time job offer! Janitorial, at the hospital where I work.

I got two new dresses, socks, a fuzzy sweatshirt jacket with cardinals (the birds, not the sports team - we be Cub fans!) on it, zip ties (from everyone!), dish towels and a gift certificate to the used book store (no wonder Hub's wouldn't stop by there the other day!)

Hazard and Maraca each got a big ham bone, the barn cats are sharing a couple of cans of salmon, Bun is munching on carrots and broccoli and the chickens are squabbling over a big bag of greens - all the critters are happy!

Hubs and I are getting ready to head in to MIL's here soon - as soon as the bread pudding gets done, that is. Pop is heading in town for a short while; then on up to cousin Laurie's for dinner. Jes is spending the day at her Dad's, then paternal Grandma's, then Ray's (the friends who took care of her when she was little and who's wife passed away recently), then coming home to have a late night snack session with friends at her house. I'm scheduled to go in to work tonight; we've got a really low census and I would probably get called off, except I'm working with the new guy (nurse) and he can't work alone yet so I'll have to be there. Oh well - I imagine I'll need someone to keep me awake after the food fest today anyway!

Merry Christmas!

I got the two things I wanted this year. Gary gave me an adapter that fits into the cigerette lighter for my truck so that a CD player can come through the FM radio. He also gave me a non- skipping CD player to use with it. Glenn gave me a CD/sterio for under the kitchen cabinet. He also gave me a Simon and Garfield CD which surprised me because I didn't remember ever mentioning it to him. He also gave me a season of CSI and Gary a season of ER but we both have wanted the three seasons of Far Scape (that's on DVD by the way) I may trade them in and get the Far Scape anyway.

Glenn liked what I got him. A stool for his workshop that looks like the one in Orange County Choppers. He was watching the father have a fit and throw the stool and said he would like to have one like it so I went looking. Found it at a resturant supply. First present in a while that he really liked. Of course he asked how much it cost. All well, some things never change.

Gary didn't get as much as usual because he will be going to driving school soon and that cost alot in itself. I did get him a pocket watch that had a dragon on it that he liked and a few little things here and there. He also likes the inflatable punching bag.

I ended up making little gingerbread houses for everyone. They went over big. Philsberry made a premade cookie. Oh, did that make things alot easier. On another note, their ready made sugar cookies had an allergy warning on it and I was shocked to see macadamina nut flour in the mix. That would have sent Gary to the hospital again. I e-mailed them to thank them for putting on that notice and they wrote back thanking me for thanking them. I guess they get alot of hate mail. He didn't tell me their regular cookies don't have the nuts in them.

Dinner at the in-laws was, as always really nice. I got to see my neice that was visiting her dad from VA. And for some reason, this holiday I wasn't depressed which was really nice.

Hope everyone else had an equally nice holiday.

I hope everyone had a great holiday. My computer at home died the week before Christmas so I didn't have any way to get on-line until I got into work this morning. Now I have a bunch of work stuff to do so I'll come back later and write more.

Well,glad that's over! ;)

Bren's mom was here for a week; she's gone on to LA to stay with the evil daughter for a month. (shudder!; i'd personally rather sleep in a car). When she comes back to the States, she goes back to her old dentist, doc, hairdresser, etc etc. I don't think she ever will really disconnect since she spent so many decades in CA). Was nice having her here (except for the tablecloth); she is so very funny, and I love funny people.

The dinner went well; I got most things done ahead of time so I wasnt stressed at all and everyone got along famously. My girls got together to buy me this beautiful shirt , and I got a badly needed new camera, a day planner for my desk with pug pictures throughout, lotsa good treats to get fatter, candles and incense from lotus' sweetheart, etc. Bren behaved herself better this year with the girls gifts (it helps that we are aware of diminishing resources as we continue to buy supplies and equipment for this business!) so they each got 2 things they really wanted, a set of sheets and a few socks and undies. Today I am assembling two new SS tables, awaiting shipment of some parts for my bargain muffin depositor, and replacing some worn parts on my packaging machine. Should be good to go pretty soon. I am amazed at the speed with which low-carb stuff is starting to appear. The craze is on; when I started this project there was no competition. Now there will be plenty, so I need to keep my quality high cuz I sure as heck wont be underselling most others.

Have a good one everyone!

Em...really cool shirt!!! I love the bell sleeves. And I didn't realize you were so young :-) :-)!!!!

You're right, EM. The low-carb craze is definitely kicking into high gear! You will do well, I'm sure. And...I can't wait to try your pizzas!!!!!
