Where to buy digital camera in Singapore

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Photography Singapore : One Thread

Hi

I'am arriving to Singapore in the end of January 2004. Can you tell me where to buy a digital camera (propably a Canon eos 300D) in Singapore or Malaysia near the border to Singapore. Do you know if the cameras are cheaper in Malaysia?

Daniel,

This is not a response to your question, but I too am heading to Singapore in May this year and was looking at buying a Canon in Singapore. I've looked around the internet a bit and came across a website of a camera shop in Singapore, which is called TK foto, the website is www.tkfoto.com.sg. Hope this is of use. Would you let me know about your camera shopping experience in Singapore and if you think it is worth waiting for.

Good Luck, Lloyd H.

Yes, the 300D is a little cheaper in Malaysia because there is no sales tax on photo equipment. But the difference is not very large so a good deal in Singapore can be better than an ordinary in Malaysia.

For Singaporian prices, see the page: http://reflecx.netfirms.com/cameraprices.html

I looked it up because I'm getting one too when I get there but it's not until April/May so I wanted to know where the best place to get it was. Note: the 300D has been low in stock over there at a few months back as the demand has been very high but apparently Canon has sent shipments there now but I suppose it could happen again. Don't forget to get extra lenses if you have the £££. //Johan

There are a few places... If you are willing to pay cash, go to these places - Parisilk at Holland Village, M S colour service in Ang Mo Kio, But for credit cards most shops are ok... Cathay Photo in Peninsula Shopping Centre, and John 3:16 in Funan Cte

Not an answer but I am going to Singapore in May also and was wanting to know the prices of the Canon 300D. My main concern is the waranty - even with an international one does this mean that Canon will honour that at home (ie Australia for me) or does it need to be sent back to place of purchase. I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons of duty free at home for a little more without the waranty hassles. Another camera I am looking at is the Fujifilm Finepix S7000, anyone know if this is available in Singapore - cheers

This answer may be too late for Daniel, but hopefully useful for others. You can buy either the CAnon 300D or the Fuji S5000 in S'pore.Good places are Cathay photo in Peninsula plaza,or Mustafa in Little India.

I am interest in the cheaper digital camera. I had found that BENQ brand digital camera is more cheaper than others. Olympus also offer more cheaper one but it is important that the digital camera must have sound function.
