How can I do research on all the postings to this Board?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Catholic : One Thread

Hello All,

In planning on doing some heavy research with topics covered on this incredibly fruitful bulletin board, I'm wondering if there is any way to do key word searches, or search by author.

Any suggestions?

Thanks much,

Moderators can search by author, but other folks cannot. There is no universal key word search available at all. Categories of topics is really the only way available to narrow down the search, and that works only for threads that have been categorized. I review the uncategorized threads periodically, and try to assign categories to those that can be readily classified. However there are many threads that do not readily fall into any existing category, and these remain uncategorized for the present. Eventually I will try to set up some new categories for some of these threads, but there will always be a "miscellaneous" group that remains uncategorized.

This works really well.

In fact, it works better than expected. In the course of doing this just now as an example, looky what I just found... I made it onto Dave Armstrong's page. Ha! Hurry, hurry, read all about it! lol.

Be sure to hit the link on that page that shows you the omitted results.

Dot net heretic, is it?

Yes; we could follow that up in this thread.

We sure could, alright. I've got the goods on a local showdown between Karl Keating and Jerry Matatics. Over claims of heresy and schism no less.

Want to hear it or just let it slide?

I'll let it slide, you do the same. Pat just wanted to know how to find something the greenspun server, and he got that. See ya later.

You can also add the "site:www.greenspun.com" phrase to your Google search to restrict the hits even further.
