Do you have a tool or a freedom tool, and know how to use them? If not, now's the time. Is everything tight, and the voltages correct? If not, now's the time. Did you use the tool to write down all the settings and options (if they aren't in the controller)? If not, now's the time. If you get a Kone tool, make sure the tool will work on all the controllers with the owner number that's burned into the proms. Give it a little TLC, and they'll be probably the most reliable elevators on your route. Just my opine... S.

Ihave to agree with Steve except for the fact that they are the second best controller out there. The Gem which is manufactured by Otis is just a little less trouble. Mainly because of the serial link communication for the fixtures and car equipment. Discrete wiring can be easier to troubleshoot but also has alot of problems.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING...the 311 as its known in Australia is on of the most reliable lifts around.....and I should know with both day and after hrs calls we very rarely get called to one.

with the GEM most problems are door lock problems in my experience.

The GEM is one of my favorite elevators. Otis is no longer my favorite company.
